Maclaren Series Indexed Edition in KJV and NKJV

The Thomas Nelson Maclaren Series Indexed editions add thumb-indexing to the brown genuine leather KJV and NKJV Bibles. I’ve reviewed both the KJV and NKJV Maclaren Series in previous articles. In this review, I’ll share my thoughts about the thumb-indexed editions and show lots of photos comparing them with each other and their non-indexed counterparts.

The tabs are black with the book names printed in gold. The names are abbreviated to three letters. The cutting seems to be slightly rough in a couple of places, but it still looks great in my opinion. I found them easy to read and use.

The Maclaren Series indexed editions include large tabs with 3-4 books per tab. Most have 4. There is one tab with 2 books. When a book has 2 parts, it’s counted as one book. So those tabs have 5 books. The one with Samuel, Kings, and Chronicles has 7 books.

It would be more helpful to have more tabs with fewer books on a tab in order to go straight to the books. However, this is still helpful and I prefer to use it. I’ve preached from the KJV edition for the past three weeks and I can’t see myself going back to the non-indexed version.

I especially think preachers would appreciate the thumb index to find the books faster.
