At UNITE 2018 I got the chance to sit down with Jacco and Remko of Royal Jongbloed. Royal Jongbloed makes the high-quality Bibles for Crossway, Tyndale, Cambridge, R.L. Allan, Schuyler, Trinitarian Bible Society, and several others. Jacco shows us an ESV Schuyler Quentel in antique marble and takes us through every element of its construction, showing what makes a Bible last a lifetime. He also compares it with another Bible and shows the differences in construction, leather, and paper.

We get to see several covers before they’re bound and he even shows a new cover coming soon called Vintage Black.

We also get a good look at the Schuyler Journal in antique marble. It includes 70gsm paper and is an excellent journal for notes, sermon outlines, etc. Before leaving he gave me the journal (thank you Jacco!!), so I’ll have a review coming soon.

I didn’t get to video Remko (he developed the current Turquoise, thank you Remko!!) and I didn’t want them to miss their plane so I kept it as short as I could. After the video we talked about page-curl (I hope to post something on that soon). Jacco and Remko are both extremely knowledgeable in Bible production and I love their passion for the work they do. They both see Bible production as a ministry, which is something I appreciate. I hope to see them again next year.
