Hendrickson KJV Ministry Essentials Bible – Review

Hendrickson’s Minister’s Bible was a popular Bible for those in ministry. It had a few articles in the back to help with ministerial events. Hendrickson replaced that with the Ministry Essentials Bible, which contains over 250 articles for those in ministry. This new series of Bibles started with the NIV edition, which I reviewed last year. In this review I take a look at the KJV edition. Cover and Binding The cover is black/brown Flexisoft imitation leather. It’s stitched around the perimeter and has a stitched design into the cover. The liner is paste-down vinyl. This is a good...

Hendrickson Ministry Essentials Bible NIV – Review

Hendrickson’s KJV Devotional Bible – Review

Hendrickson’s KJV Devotional Bible is not your typical devotional Bible. It pulls from 400 years of writings from 185 authors to give you 400 devotions sprinkled throughout the text. Even though it’s set in verse format, the layout is nicer than normal because poetry is indented, setting it apart from the rest of the text. Pros Thick paper Sewn binding Poetry indented Cons Pages are severely stuck together out of the box Doesn’t lay flat out of the box Features KJV Imitation leather Sewn binding Presentation page History of the KJV 400 devotions Red letter Section headings Book introductions...

AW Tozer (KJV) and the Pursuit of God Bible (NIV) from Hendrickson Publishers

Before I get into my review there are some disclaimers: 1. Aiden Wilson Tozer was a pastor in the Christian and Missionary Alliance, a Charismatic Denomination. I am neither promoting or detracting charismatic denominations; rather I am trying to be up front and honest with you. 2. I purchased this Bible at my own expense and this may be reflected in my review. “The Word of God well understood and religiously obeyed is the shortest route to spiritual perfection. Nothing less than a whole Bible can make a whole Christian.” —A. W. Tozer   A little about Tozer A “twentieth-century prophet” they called him even in his lifetime. For 31 years A. W. Tozer was pastor of Southside Alliance Church in Chicago, where his reputation as a man of God was citywide. Concurrently he became editor of Alliance Life, a responsibility he fulfilled until his death in 1963. His greatest legacy to the Christian world has been more than 40 books. Hendrickson has released two versions of this excellent Bible, a KJV Titled the AW Tozer Bible and an NIV titled the Pursuit of God Bible. The only difference I was able to find between the two is the translation and title. I suspect the differing title for the KJV is due to the propensity of charismatics to use the King James.
