Crossway’s newly released Large Print Thinline Bible is an attempt to provide an edition that’s both easy to read and easy to carry. It presents the 2016 ESV in an uncluttered layout without references. For this review, Crossway provided a genuine leather edition, ISBN: 9781433555961. __________________________________________ Buy from Amazon (includes affiliate link) __________________________________________ Binding My review edition is black genuine leather. It has a stamped grain that looks and feels nice. The front of the cover is clear of printing, while the spine has Holy Bible, ESV, English Standard Version, Crossway, and four bands printed in gold. Coming soon from R.L. Allan is a new slimline Longprimer called the 43. The Longprimer (see our review of the 53 in brown here) is a staple in the premium KJV market. It was recently updated with a cleaner scan and is now available in several covers and a larger edition with wide outer margins called the 63 Longprimer Sovereign (see a guest review here). With the recent paper improvements the Longprimer has been getting larger. There are still a market for those who prefer thinner Bibles. I still like the 32gsm edition that I reviewed years ago because...Read More
Hendrickson’s KJV Thinline Reference Bible is a low-end thinline with some no-nonsense features that many will appreciate. I like thinlines because they’re easy to carry, but unfortunately most low-end editions skimp on paper and print quality. They’re also usually glued. That’s not the case with this Hendrickson. To get this price it does make a few sacrifices. Are they worth it? Absolutely. In this review I’m taking a look at the imitation edition (ISBN: 9781619709591 provided for free by Hendrickson). _________________________________ Buy from (includes some affiliate links) Amazon Barnes & Noble and many local Bible bookstores _________________________________ BINDING The cover is...Read More
I am fond of thin Bibles. They’re light, easy to carry, and easy to hold for long periods of time. This usually means thin paper that has way too much show-through, and far too often, small print. This isn’t the case with Thomas Nelson’s newest line of Comfort Print® Bibles. This line of Bibles focuses on font design. They’ve worked with 2K/Denmark to design three new typefaces: one for the KJV, one for the NKJV, and one for the NIV. In this review I’m taking a look at the new font in the large print thinline KJV in three...Read More
