Pre-Orders for Humble Lamb‘s KJV Lion Bible start this Friday, September 27th, 2019, on Kickstarter (which is now active).
Construction & Materials
This Bible will be bound in Meritian Goatskin. You have your choice of 4 colors; Black, Forest Pine (brown), Amethyst, and Sahara Blue. Matching goatskin liners (except for the blue which will have a burnt orange goatskin liner) will be used to ensure extreme flexibility.
It will have 36 gsm European paper with a Smyth sewn binding and 3 bound in double-sided satin ribbon markers. The trim size will be 9″ x 6″ and it will have 1805 pages.
The blue, brown (forest pine), and amethyst Bibles will be available with art-gilt page edges that are gold over a coordinating color (blue, green, and purple).
This beautiful and unique gilt over lion fore-edge artwork is the standard edging for all the black Bibles but you can opt for the lion no matter which color of cover you choose.
Typography & Features
Humble Lamb is using the much loved KJV translation. It will be set in a double-column verse by verse format. The font is an 11 point Milo Serif with the words of Christ in dark red. It will have line-matched text and bold drop caps as signposts for each chapter.
Cross-references are included at the bottom of the pages for ease of use without sacrificing the reading experience.
Definitions of words that have fallen out of use since the translation of the KJV are also included in the footer. These 750 definitions have been drawn from several trusted sources such as Webster’s 1828 and 1913 English dictionaries, Wright’s 1876 Bible Word-Book, and Strong’s Hebrew and Greek Dictionary.
It will include 66 Illustrations by Gustave Doré.
It will also have 14 pages of maps and a concordance.
Kickstarter Campaign
The Campaign starts on September 27th with a Super Early Bird price of $99 each being available for just the first 72 hours.
Then regular Early Bird pricing will begin and the Bibles will be $129 each. All Bibles ordered after the Early Bird orders end will be filled at the Humble Lamb KJV Lion Bible standard retail price of $169 each.
The Kickstarter campaign will run from September 27, 2019, until October 27th, 2019 with order surveys being sent within a day or two of the campaign closing. The current projected ship date of the Bible is between December 2019 and March 2020.
I’ll add a direct link to Kickstarter and any updated information once the campaign has been launched. UPDATE – the Kickstarter campaign is now active. This is the first printing and will be marked as a first printing on the inside cover. The Kickstarter page includes more photos and information.
Additional Information
Humble Lamb has sent us answers to some of your most frequently asked questions.
It is the 1769 Edition of the KJV translation and will include both the Epistle Dedicatory and the Translators to the Readers.
This edition is made all over the world, leather was custom made for Humble Lamb in India, Paper is from the Czech Republic in Europe, printing is in China.
Psalms will also be in verse-by-verse format instead of a poetical setting.
While it is possible that the Gustave Dore illustrations will show through to the next page because ghosting is inevitable in Bible paper, it should not be distracting since this Bible will use 36gsm paper.
I would order one if it weren’t for the pictures inside.
Do you know if it will have self pronouncing text? I hope not. Thanks
Hi Noah. It does not have self-pronouncing text.
Awesome! Thanks Randy! I will be ordering one Friday! Thanks for the Facebook post about this yesterday! I never would’ve even known they existed if it weren’t for that post. You are a blessing brother! Preach the word!
Noah
I love the pictures. Not too fond of the horizontal wording on the spine of the Bible.
I am not interested in purchasing this Bible.
Another verse by verse KJV- what a shocker (very disappointing.)
A double column paragraph style would have been nice with poetry & prophecy Line by Line (either single or double column line by line like the normal NKJV format.)
We have the LCBP paragraph KJV which is enjoyable to read. The Clarion is nice but that thin paper & the curling gets annoying, Finally we have the Pitt Minion but it is very small for most folks.
I was looking forward to the a Schuyler KJV until I heard the Canterbury would be VbyV- yuk. A PSQ Canterbury in double column paragraph style would of been a perfect size.
So will we ever get a nice premium double column paragraph style KJV with some updated formatting like the NKJV has?
Again so very disappointing considering the original manuscripts were not VbyV or broken into chapters and from a reading standpoint it is harder to get the flow of what the Holy Spirit was influencing the writers to say or what God was saying directly. I like verse by verse Bibles as a supplement to help with preaching & teaching in the pulpit or in street ministry, but I am so thankful for the paragraph style format in both single and double columns.
Oh well, at least we can hope. I am pretty sure the Schuyler KJV would of sold just as well with a double column paragraph style.
Thanks again Randy for all your reviews & the videos you have been putting up on YouTube. Greatly appreciated. 🙂
Hi Randy,
What are the dimensions ?
Hi Joel. The only dimensions they’ve mentioned is the trim size: 9×6″.
