UBS NIV Greek English New Testament Review

The UBS NIV Greek English New Testament from Zondervan Academic combines the 5th edition of the UBS critical text (with full apparatus) and the 2011 edition of the NIV. It provides a hand-sized parallel edition that’s easy to use for students and translators. The UBS 5 text contains the same Greek text as NA28. The only difference is a few details of punctuation and paragraphing. Spellings have been changed to match the Nestle-Aland 28th edition. It includes variants and adds manuscript evidence for the variants, showing how the variants and their evidence work together. Papyri 117-127 are also included....

NIV Journal Edition Bible Review

The single-column journaling Bible has become a staple format in Bible publishing (from an idea sparked by Mark Bertrand). I am glad to see publishers providing their translations in this format. This includes Zondervan’s latest edition: the NIV Journal Edition. This Bible, very wisely, doesn’t try to break new ground and do anything innovative. Zondervan’s NIV Archaeological Study Bible – Review

It’s better to give you the tools to do your own study. I prefer commentary that gives insights on culture, history, etc. That’s what the Archaeological Study Bible is. It uses the 1984 edition of the NIV. I’ve used the NIV (in both hard...

NIV Zondervan Study Bible – Review

The NIV Zondervan Study Bible is the latest in the trend of full-color study Bibles. At 2880 pages, this is one of the largest and most complex study Bibles available. It uses the 2011 NIV text. Cover This edition is hard cover. It’s sewn and lays open easily. It’s so large that it actually bends in the spine. I’m not sure if this is normal or not. On a table it isn’t bad, but in my hand it will fold back. This bend does leave a crease. It comes with a dust jacket. The cover itself is gray/brown/green with...
