The Cambridge NKJV Pitt Minion Reference Bible is a nice little reference Bible in the popular Pitt Minion setting from Cambridge. It’s easy to see why this setting is so popular: it’s a full reference edition with concordance and maps, all within a thin Smyth sewn book-block that’s easy to carry, and wrapped in a high-quality leather cover. It is available in calf split and goatskin. Both are excellent editions. In this review I’m taking a look at the black calf split leather. This Bible was purchased for review. I was not in any way influenced by the publisher to give...Read More

A Bible that I’ve been looking forward to from Cambridge is the KJV Turquoise Reference Edition. The Turquoise was originally published in the 1920’s and has been a popular reference edition among those who prefer large print. It’s a verse-by-verse double column setting with center column references. The Turquoise is a great choice for preachers or anyone preferring a large print KJV. The new edition will have the words of Christ while on earth in red letter. It includes a sewn binding with either goatskin or calf-split leather, India paper (I suspect it will be the same paper as the current...Read More
I love reading multiple translations of the Bible. I like seeing how translators with different backgrounds and educations bring ancient texts into modern languages. Often differences in translation give me insight into original meaning and strengthen my beliefs so I was interested in reading The New Living Message Bible. I knew it was at least part paraphrase (which should be thought of more as commentary than the Word of God) but I wanted to like it. Unfortunately I don’t. The Holy Bible – New Living Message Version (NLMV) is marketed as “compassionate Scripture for the modern world” and as...Read More
Crossway’s ESV Journaling Bible, Writer’s Edition, is different from most journal Bibles. Most place the text in either a double or single column with a large outer margin for notes and artwork. They usually have close to a square shape. Keeping a slim width while presenting a double-column layout, the Writer’s Edition places the writing space at the bottom of the page. In this review I take a look at the hardcover edition in black, ISBN: 9781433552809, which Crossway provided for free. _________________________________ Buy from (includes affiliate links) Amazon _________________________________ Cover and Binding My review copy has a black hardcover...Read More
I enjoy reader’s Bibles. They remove the distractions like references, footnotes, section headings, and even chapter and verse numbers creating the ideal reading experience. Holman has raised the bar with their latest edition. The interior design, layout, and typeface were designed by 2K/Denmark – some of the best Bible designers in the world. In this review I take a look at Holman’s CSB Reader’s Bible in cloth over board. ISBN 9781433644177 Holman provided this Bible free for review. I was not required to give a positive review – only an honest review. My opinions are my own. ______________________________ Buy from...Read More
