Woodsy Beard and Leather Goods makes rustic Bible rebinds and several other products to go along with your Bible. They sent me several products to review. Here’s a look at a Bible, Journal, and bookmark in Dublin English Tan Horween Leather.

Bible

  • Thomas Nelson NKJV, End-of-Verse Reference Bible, Personal Size Large Print
  • Dublin English Tan Horween Leather
  • Brown Cowhide liner
  • Brown end sheets
  • Oxford Hollow
  • Edge Lined
  • (3) 3/8” Honey double-sided satin ribbons

The Dublin English Tan Horween leather is thick. It looks and feels rustic and rugged, but it’s also smooth and elegant at the same time. The grain is natural, and the color has a beautiful variation that catches my eye. Any patterns, color variation, or scratches you see here are exaggerated by my camera and color correction efforts. The edges are not folded over, so you see the edge of the leather. I love this type of leather. It smells great. There is no printing or stamping. The edges are folded over the text block.

The leather does feel stiff, but that’s partially due to the stiff liner. I prefer this, since I’m not a fan of floppy leather Bibles that become unwieldy in one hand. The dark brown cowhide liner looks great glued to the outer leather. The edge-lined tab is stiff, but the Oxford Hollow allows the spine to lie flat. The honey gold ribbons are elegant. They’re double-sided satin. Ribbons are installed at an angle and look the same as premium publishers. They’re also cut at an angle.

Journal

  • Dublin English Tan Horween Leather
  • Holds one 3.5” x 5.5” field notes journal
  • It’s both stylish and functional
  • The rich leather ages beautifully, making each piece uniquely yours
  • Compact yet durable (6” x 4”)

The journal is small and contains a Field Notes notebook. The leather is the same as the Bible. It’s a single piece of leather with a strap in the center to hold the Field Notes journal. The strap keeps the journal closed. The pages are easily replaceable, making this a refillable journal. I’ve gotten a few scratches on the front and back. This is normal and is exactly as I expected, and I see this as a positive, not a negative, because it highlights that it’s natural.

Bookmark

The bookmark is small and made from the same leather as the Bible and journal. It has a ribbon cut and a small leather tie strap at the top. The leather is also the same thickness, so it might not be ideal for all Bibles, but it’s perfect for the journal.

Ending Thoughts

I love this leather set. The leather is rustic, which is difficult to find without getting a rebind. It’s also unusual to see a matching journal of this size, which is perfect for carrying in a pocket or purse. All of these products are easy to recommend, and I especially like using them together. I recommend you take a look at Woodsy Beard and Leather Goods and see what they can do for you.
