The Tabernacle in the Old Testament is a foreshadow of sacrifice of Jesus in the New Testament. Pastor Shawn Bernard teaches this in detail in this 6-session DVD by Rose Publishing. The DVD-based study for individuals and groups includes the 6-session DVD and a disc of PDF’s to help you set up and teach a class based on this study.
DVD
The DVD contains six 30 minute sessions and a 30 discussion taught by Pastor Shawn Bernard. The sessions cover the elements of the Tabernacle (The Tabernacle, The Altar of Burnt Offering, The Bronze Laver, The Lampstand, The Table of Bread and The Altar of Incense, The Veil, the Ark, and the Mercy Seat) and shows how they apply to our salvation today.
Each segment goes into great detail about that element of the Tabernacle. There is plenty of Scripture given that shows what that element of the Tabernacle was for and how it corresponds to the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross- showing that sacrifice of Jesus fulfills the Old Testament covenant. Great detail is given that shows the purpose of each element of the Tabernacle and how Jesus fulfilled the requirements that each of those elements fulfilled.
I like the level of detail from the teaching. I would like to see more slides and pictures to go along with the video. The teaching is as much application as it is Old Testament facts. I think this is better than just giving the facts. Knowing about the elements of the Tabernacle is nice, but applying it to our lives is what is really important. This DVD does that well.
PDF’s
The second DVD includes PDF files to use along with the video. Files include a printable Leader Guide, poster, filer, postcard, bulletin insert, and banners.
The Leader Guide is 96 pages and includes information on how to lead the study for each of the six sections. It includes good points and tips on how to lead a study. The segments include a truth statement, a key verse, the main point of study, what will be learned, opening the session, a viewer guide (fill in the blanks – these are included in the video), discussion with questions to answer, group activities, and more. Each section includes a suggested length of time to help the leader stay on target. In the back is a summary, glossary, and a list of Bible references.
Conclusion
This 6-session DVD goes into great detail of the elements of the Tabernacle, but more than that it goes into great detail of how it applies to us today. There is a lot of good teaching in this DVD. Between the videos and the Leader Guide in PDF there is enough here to hold both individual and group studies. I recommend The Tabernacle DVD from Rose Publishing for both individual and group study.
Rose Publishing provided this DVD for review. I was not required to give a positive review- only an honest review.
This looks like a good presentation of the subject, I have the Rose Publishing catalogue here, and there are numerous presentations on this and similar subjects. For better or worse, this sort of Powerpoint Presentation is how more and more people get their information. It is good to see that someone is doing such a good job with Biblical Subjects. I have purchased one of their products and found it valuable. It is evident that fewer and fewer people get their information from reading traditional books. If this is true, it is good that there are quality presentations like this one dealing with Biblical Subjects. This presentation looks to be thorough attractive and effective. Rose has a variety of these products in their catalogue. Another good review Randy.
