The Bible Recap 365-Day Chronological Study Bible in ESV from Tara-Leigh Cobble includes the complete text of The Bible Recap book. This is basically a wide-margin Study Bible in chronological order that’s set up for daily readings. It’s available in several covers. I’m reviewing the hardcover, pink imitation leather over board, brown imitation leather, and black genuine leather.

Cover and Binding
The Bible Recap 365-Day Chronological Study Bible is available in several covers. I’m reviewing four different editions. All are sewn. The average size is 6.75 x 10 x 1.87″, and they weigh around 3 lbs, 6 oz.
Hardcover

ISBN: 9780764244148
The hardcover edition includes a dust jacket with an interesting texture. The cover itself is two shades of blue with the title on the front and spine. The liner is extra-thick paper. It seems to be made well. It remains open without any trouble on any page. This one has a single 3/8″ blue ribbon.
Pink Imitation Leather Over Board

ISBN: 9780764245565
Known as vegan leather, this imitation leather is soft to the touch. The text is stamped into the spine in a darker pink. It has a white paper liner with extra-thick paper. It stays open to any page and includes a pink 3/8″ ribbon. The page edges are gold gilt. The pages have square corners. This one comes in a rugged slipcase. This one looks elegant.
Brown Imitation Leather

ISBN: 9780764244155
The brown imitation (vegan) leather is a dark brown. The text is stamped into the spine in a darker brown. This cover feels thinner than the others and isn’t as elegant. It’s still soft to the touch. It has a thick paper liner in tan and a navy 3/8″ ribbon. The page edges are gold gilt with rounded corners. This one also stays open easily to any page, but not as easily as the two hardcover editions. It also comes in a rugged slipcase.
Black Genuine Leather

ISBN: 9780764245848
The black genuine leather looks like cowhide. It’s thin, but it’s flexible and looks and feels great. It includes perimeter stitching. The spine has text printed in gold. It includes a leather liner (I’m not sure of the material, though) and is edge-lined. It isn’t too stiff and does stay open on the first page with no trouble. The liner also includes a decorative line. This edition includes three 3/8″ ribbons in black, tan, and white. Page edges are gold gilt. It comes in a clamshell box.
Paper

The paper is thick and smooth. It feels like it’s in the mid-30s, but that’s just a guess. It’s white and opaque. The smoothness sometimes makes it difficult to separate and turn the pages. This paper is great for reading and writing.
Typography

The 2025 ESV text is presented in a single-column, paragraph format with poetry set to stanzas and lists presented as lists. The header shows the page number in black and day in blue, printed in the outer corner. The footer includes the translation footnotes. I found navigation to be a touch difficult when trying to find a certain chapter, since the header doesn’t show the book or chapter for that page. Fortunately, I’d only have to turn a page or two to see the book and chapter number in the text itself.

The 10-point font is thin but dark. It has a lot of whitespace between the words and lines, making it easy to read. The red letters are about a medium in darkness. It looks to have been printed with line matching. Most pages have a recap, which is printed in a different font, but this also seems to be line-matched. Most pages line up perfectly, but a few are slightly off. It has around 12-14 words per line. Poetry is beautiful in this layout.

The outer margins are 1.5 inches. This is great for notes, references, thoughts, prayers, etc. It also has enough inner margin to bring the text out onto the flat part of the page. The translation footnotes are printed in a small font. Extra space has been added between the footnotes, so they’re easy to find.
Chronology

In the Bible Recap, the Bible is presented in chronological order to provide a 365-day reading plan. The reading plan is placed in the front of the table of contents. It shows the day with the chapters and page numbers. The chronology is divided on the chapter level. It’s also presented in a daily reading format, with each day labeled and showing the chapters for that reading. After the reading is the recap and Today’s God Shot. The next reading starts where the last one ended. This includes the bottom of the page. Having the chronology divided on the chapter level isn’t as accurate as it could be, but it does keep the reading cleaner. The reading plan averages three chapters per day. An asterisk (*) next to the number of the day indicates that a list of free resources is available on the website.
Recap

The Bible Recap includes the complete text of the Bible Recap book. It provides a summary of each day’s reading. The Recap appears after the text. They’re printed in a different font than the biblical text. This is a combination of restating the text in different words and providing commentary, like any study Bible. It provides a highlights reel and explanations of the more confusing parts of the text. Although I’m not a fan of commentary that tells you what the text told you, the recaps are rephrased in a way that makes it vivid. It sometimes has to recap too much. I found the explanations interesting and insightful. Some do include theology, which makes it seem more like a regular study Bible with the commentary placed at the end of a section instead of on every page. I recommend using it for reference and doing your own study.
Today’s God Shot

The daily readings in the Bible Recap Bible include a paragraph after the recap with a blue background called Today’s God Shot. These focus on the attributes of God on display in the daily reading. They show a snapshot of God’s character. These have more of a devotional feel, and I enjoyed them the most of all the tools in this Bible. This Bible encourages you to look for your own God shots as you read the Bible, focusing on what He says, does, loves, hates, and His motivations. These are the kinds of things that would be great to write in the margins as you read.
Scripture Index

The Bible Recap includes a Scripture index in the back with every chapter in canonical order and its page number. This is helpful if you’re looking for a specific chapter or want to read in canonical order.

Conclusion
The Bible Recap 365-Day Chronological Study Bible ESV is an interesting study Bible. Each cover option is well-made, and the text is beautiful. The chronology isn’t detailed, but it does give a good overview of the biblical timeline. The indexes are great for finding any chapter. The recaps include a lot more theology than I expected, sometimes choosing one view (Acts 2), and sometimes showing multiple views (Gen 1). This Bible recommends that you use a journal to write the things that stand out to you or questions you may have. I like the insightful recap portions. I especially liked the God Shots, which were more like short devotionals. Any fan of the Bible Recap book will enjoy this Bible.
