Cambridge has just released the information of their upcoming KJV Family Chronicle Bible. This is a large-format Family Bible, designed by 2K/Denmark and includes high-quality printings of illustrations by Gustov Dore. It has around 1300 pages with extra-thick paper that highlight the quality of the illustrations. The 220 pages of illustrations are the main focus. The text will be double-column with chapter summaries spanning the page. It will have wide margins. The text will not have paragraph breaks or a poetic setting. It will have pilcrows in red. This is to reduce the size of the Bible. This is a large Bible, about the size of a Lectern Bible, with a trim size of 12.5 x 9.4″.
It will be available in three styles: blue cloth, black calfskin, and a hand-numbered limited edition in brown calfskin. The blue has foil blocking and blue page edges. The black gold blocking and gold page edges. The brown has blocking on the front and back, gold page edges, marbled end sheets, and three ribbons. This edition is limited to 500 copies and will be a Cambridge exclusive.
Their goal is to publish the KJV Family Chronicle Bible around December 2021. With 10 years in the making, this does look to be an interesting family Bible. I’ll be reviewing all three styles later this year.
