Strength and Dignity Flexcover Journal Review

I recently received this beautiful journal from Christian Arts Publishing.

Strength and Dignity Journal (2)

Bound in turquoise LuxLeather is has Proverbs 31:25 engraved on the front and rose patterns debossed into both the front and back cover and the spine.

It is 5″ x 7″ with 240 lined pages. It has a scripture printed at the bottom of each page, an attached ribbon bookmark, and flower printed end papers. There are 32 different scriptures before they start over.

I decide to use mine as a Bible Art Journaling journal (that wasn’t very clear). A place to write down ideas and keep lists in print form for when I’m away from home (or at least my computer). It also seemed like a good place to make reference charts for colors in my various art mediums.

I’ve written in mine with every different kind of pen I could find in my house. Gel pens, regular ink pens, metallic pens, calligraphy pens.

The only pen that presented any kind of problem was a Sharpie, it bled through horribly.

My inks worked pretty well, you can see a few of them slightly, but not so bad you couldn’t work on the opposite side of the page.

I was pleasantly surprised by my watercolors. They didn’t bleed through at all and the page is only a little wavy.

I gessoed under my acrylics (mostly because I wanted to see how well gesso would work). The gesso went on smoothly and only made the page wavy instead of crinkling it bad.

This is done using gel pens and calligraphy pens.

This paper seems to work well with everything but very wet mediums (and Sharpies). The lay flat binding works pretty well also. The book hasn’t closed on me while I was writing or painting but I did have to weight it open while I was waiting for paint to dry.

This journal works great as a notebook and would be a good choice for most people who want a place to art journal outside their Bible. Christian Arts makes this journal with different covers as well.

Christian Art Publishers provided this journal free for review. I was not required to give a positive review – only an honest one.
