Beautiful Illustrated Family Bible Project on Kickstarter

There is a very interesting project currently on Kickstarter, “The World’s Most Beautiful Illustrated Family Bible.”

The goal of this project is to produce a Bible that is beautiful enough and well made enough to become a family heirloom that could last generations.

Starting with an illuminated family Bible produced in the 1840s they have scanned and digitally remastered over 900 illustrations and maps to include in this Bible. They have chosen the KJV translation because of its impact on the English-speaking world. It will contain extensive commentaries in parallel columns, as well as a complete Concordance and a comprehensive Bible Dictionary.

All editions of the Beautiful Illustrated Family Bible will be made with acid-neutral non-fading archival quality paper using a sewn binding to last long usage and to open flat. They will be printed and bound in Europe using high-quality Italian leather and will include embossed covers & gilded book edges. Measuring nearly 8″ x 12″ with over 1600 pages this will be a dramatically oversized Bible.

A pledge of £115 (about $150 US) or more will get you the standard edition with the option of free personalization and a daily digital inspiration newsletter. Higher pledges will get you deluxe covers (that include amber, silver, or gold crosses) and handmade solid wood boxes for storage. There’s even an option if you would like to give one as a Christmas gift. The bibles aren’t due to ship until February and March but if you choose the Christmas supersaver option (£175 approx $228US for 1 or £300 approx $390US for 2) you will get Christmas cards in gold envelopes with 16-page booklets to give at Christmas time to give while waiting for your Bibles. The Christmas option will be for the standard Bible but will also include the wood boxes.

This Kickstarter campaign just became fully funded and closes on October 17th, 2018.

That is a wonderful thing to do. I wish I could afford it now and maybe I’ll have the money for it before I die but I will buy it.
