Thinline Comfort Print Bible Giveaway

Bible Buying Guide, in conjunction with Zondervan and Thomas Nelson Publishers, is hosting a Thinline Comfort Print Bible Giveaway. (This giveaway has ended)

Zondervan and Thomas Nelson are very proud of their new Comfort Print texts (and rightly so). Each translation has its own font carefully designed by 2K/Denmark to reflect the style and history of the translation. To help spread the word about these beautifully designed fonts they have graciously offered to give a total of 6 Bibles away to Bible Buying Guide readers. (sorry only our readers with a US address are eligible).

To learn more about the design and purpose of these fonts visit ComfortPrintBibles.com,  read Randy’s interview with Doug Lockhart, or check out his interview with 2K/Denmark to find out more about the designers.

Winners will have 6 different Bibles to choose from.

  • KJV Thinline Bible Standard Print in Black Leathersoft
  • KJV Thinline Bible Standard Print in Burgundy Leathersoft
  • NKJV Thinline Bible Standard Print in Black Leathersoft
  • NKJV Thinline Bible Standard Print in Burgundy Leathersoft
  • NIV Thinline Bible Standard Print in Black Bonded Leather
  • NIV Thinline Bible Standard Print in Tan Leathersoft

How to Enter

To enter please leave a comment on this post here on BibleBuyingGuide.com and tell us which edition you would most like to have. We encourage you to share this giveaway on Facebook, Twitter, and any other social media platforms you use, but comments left on those sites will not count as entries. Multiple entries (comments) are allowed.

The drawing will close at 11:59 EDT on 06/17/2018. Winners will be randomly selected the following morning 6/18/2018 and announced here on Bible Buying Guide. After addresses have been obtained the prizes will be shipped directly from the publishers.

Since we do not have the Bibles in-house the following photos of the exteriors of the Bibles are taken from the publishers’ websites and the photos of the text are from other Bibles using the same fonts.

KJV

KJV’s font had to be traditional. The inspiration for the design came from a Latin New Testament, typeset with a Scottish Roman typeface and published by Thomas Nelson in 1844.

(photo borrowed from 2K/Denmark’s Thomas Nelson KJV Typeface article)

NKJV

Using the letter-forms found in a mid-1800s Thomas Nelson Bible as a starting point, the  Comfort Print Typeface blends tradition with the best advances in modern typography.

NIV

Rather than going for the traditional the NIV typeface was designed to be authoritative, accessible, and global.

It is amazing to me now, at 45, how much difference print style, and not just size, helps or hinders my ability to read.

If my name is drawn, I would be interested in the NIV.

And thank you for the links about the print type itself. I must have missed these when they were discussed earlier.

I agree completely. I’m so glad that Bible publishers are finally designing Bibles like the high quality literature it is instead of a utilitarian reference work.

The font reminds me of the one found in the Schuylers—where the lower case letters are 3/4 the size of the upper case ones. I suspect that’s why the font appears larger and easier to read. I would like an NIV in bonded leather.

    • Cory

I believe 2K/Denmark also designed the Milo font used in the Schuyler Bibles, but I could be mistaken. I haven’t seen a Schuyler in person yet, but I love the pictures I’ve seen of them.

  14. George Keelin

    Dear Thomas Nelson,
How very kind of you to offer these. A KJV Black Leathersoft (either color) would be both very nice and much appreciated.
    Thank You,

What an interesting occurrence – I was just browsing Thomas Nelson’s and 2K/Denmark’s websites a few days ago after I’d come across the videos about the new ‘Comfort Print’ again on YouTube. I was mostly trying to see if I could find (which I did) good/clear representations of the font online (as in .pdf files and not just great pictures of the text such as can be found in abundance on this site!). I wanted to compare it with the Milo font used in Schuyler Bibles and the Lexicon used in some Cambridge’s. If I were to win, I would choose the NKJV in Black Leathersoft as I’ve never owned a NKJV (I actually don’t think I’ve so much as read but a few paragraph’s from a NKJV!). Thank you for the opportunity to participate!

I am always enthused when Bible publishers are not content with the status quo. The Comfort Print Bibles sound wonderful, especially for my aging eyes. It is exciting when they take such steps to make the Scriptures more accessible and user friendly. These are great days for Bible publishing, and for the gospel. Hi, I read this blog for about 2 years and I always waited for an opportunity like that. I live in Brazil, and here is basically impossible to get a good Bible in English (the language I learned not only to speak but to love). For this reason, I’d be immensely glad and grateful if I were blessed with the KJV – the translation I think is the most beautiful in English.
    May God bless you all.
