Crossway ESV Single Column Legacy in Brown Top Grain Leather
My son found this amazing brown top grain leather edition of Crossway’s Single Column Legacy. I’ve reviewed this Bible’s features here, so I won’t go over that again, but I wanted to take a look at the cover. The brown leather has a gorgeous grain. It’s soft, but not so soft that you can’t hold it in one hand if you wanted to. The leather is thick and feels amazing. This one has 2 ribbons.
Wow! That grain looks magnificent. I can see the thickness of the leather. It looks extremely durable yet supple at the same time. I really love the color as well.

Sorry to be the harbinger of doom but I have to warn people that this particular edition has some serious problems with the binding. The lining paper/card splits right on the seam and is so bad that the whole cover comes away from the book block. It is a real shame as the Bible itself is fantastic what with the cowhide leather and the single column layout. After this happened the first time I sent mine back to Crossway and they sent a replacement; but after less than a year of light use the same thing is starting to happen to the new one. Really disappointed as the Bible isn’t a cheap one and Crossway’s stuff is usually good quality. And as I own a number of ESV Bibles in various cheaper bindings and never had this problem, this is a shame.

Thanks for the info. I’ll keep an eye on this one and report on its progress. It doesn’t mater how good the leather is if the binding comes apart with light use.
I saw the comment about the binding is the same problem true for the black calfskin leather or goatskin?

This one is an older edition. I’m guessing they’ve fixed it by now. I haven’t seen the black calfskin, but the goatskin doesn’t have this problem. The Goatskin edition is edge-lined, so it’s a completely different binding method.
