Crossway’s ESV Study Bible has been one of the most popular study Bibles on the market since it released in 2008. It’s easy to see why with its vast amount of features that include 20,000 notes and 50 articles. It’s basically a full library of Bible study materials. I’ve previously reviewed the regular edition. In this review I take a look at the personal size edition and note some of the differences between the two. The doctrinal position follows Reformed Theology. My review copy includes the 2011 edition of the ESV. Features 2011 ESV text Sewn binding TruTone Brown...Read More
In this video review Matthew Everhard takes a look at two ESV journal Bibles: the Single Column Journaling in TruTone with chestnut leaves, and the Large Print Single Column Journaling Bible in bonded leather mocha. Matthew gives a few ideas of using the journaling Bibles and also discusses bonded leather verses other materials. Several months ago I received a review copy of Glenn R. Paauw’s book Saving the Bible from Ourselves (review coming soon). Paauw describes the problems with Bible design and the need for a readable Bible that’s made specifically to do the #1 thing we should be doing with the Bible – reading it. Journaling Bibles are among the most popular Bibles on the market but up to this point they’ve all had had small to medium size text. Crossway’s ESV Single Column Journaling Bible is now available in large print. This is a brand new layout and includes the ESV 2016 Permanent Text. It’s available in several covers. The edition I’m reviewing is brown natural leather with flap. Features 2016 Permanent Text Brown Natural Leather with flap 2” margins Single column text 5 font Black letter 38 gsm cream paper 5 x 7 x 2 1568 pages 1 ribbon Reading plan ISBN:...Read More
I spent a day in Cedar Springs Christian Bookstore in Knoxville, TN secretly filming reviews and taking pictures of Bibles. This isn’t as detailed as my standard reviews, and some of the photos and videos are blurry, but maybe there’s enough information here to help you decide if this Bible is for you. The large print edition of Crossway’s Single Column Journaling Bible has around a 9.5-point font which is dark enough to read easily. This is a black letter edition. The overall size has the same footprint as a study Bible and the thickness is just slightly smaller than...Read More
