NIV Cultural Backgrounds Study Bible – Selective Review 2 Timothy

#contextchangeseverything For the release of the NIV Cultural Backgrounds Study Bible several websites are taking a selective review approach, looking at a specific book or topic. As one of those websites, I’m taking a look at 2 Timothy with a focus on the validity, inspiration, and importance of Scripture. Along the way I’ll take an in-depth look at the material, discussing the quality of tools, how applicable it is to preachers and laymen, etc., to help you decide if this Bible is right for you. Introduction to 2 Timothy The introduction sets the stage and tells about Paul’s situation...

NIV Beautiful Word Bible Review

The hottest trends in Bibles right now is art-journaling. Most of the popular publishers are bringing out their own editions. Most include single column text with a 2” ruled margin for notes or drawings. Zondervan has taken that idea to a different level by adding drawings from 7 popular art-journaling artists. UBS NIV Greek English New Testament Review

The UBS NIV Greek English New Testament from Zondervan Academic combines the 5th edition of the UBS critical text (with full apparatus) and the 2011 edition of the NIV. It provides a hand-sized parallel edition that’s easy to use for students and translators. The UBS 5 text contains the same Greek text as NA28. The only difference is a few details of punctuation and paragraphing. Spellings have been changed to match the Nestle-Aland 28th edition. It includes variants and adds manuscript evidence for the variants, showing how the variants and their evidence work together. Papyri 117-127 are also included....

NIV Journal Edition Bible Review

The single-column journaling Bible has become a staple format in Bible publishing (from an idea sparked by Mark Bertrand). I am glad to see publishers providing their translations in this format. Instead, it follows the tried and true single-column journaling format to a tee, and does it as good as anybody. Binding This cover is soft dark-brown leather that’s simply called “Premium Leather” (it’s also available in imitation and hard cover). I don’t know what the...
