I spent a day in Cedar Springs Christian Bookstore in Knoxville, TN secretly filming reviews and taking pictures of Bibles. This isn’t as detailed as my standard reviews, and some of the photos and videos are blurry, but maybe there’s enough information here to help you decide if this Bible is for you. The large print edition of Crossway’s Single Column Journaling Bible has around a 9.5-point font which is dark enough to read easily. This is a black letter edition. The overall size has the same footprint as a study Bible and the thickness is just slightly smaller than...Read More

We’re here at the showroom floor of the International Christian Retail Show in Cincinnati and the first news I wanted to report is the ESV Thompson Chain Reference Bible from Kirkbride that will be releasing soon. I’ll have more detail (and high-res photos) on this tomorrow but in the mean-time here are a few cellphone photos to hold you over. Also from Kirkbride, the TCR will be available in brown genuine leather....Read More
Number three in the various art mediums series. This time I’m experimenting in a Crossway ESV Single Column Journaling Bible (Black). A comparable Bible is available in other translations from Holman, Nelson and Zondervan with the same paper quality and the side column for journaling. (the lines in the margins are different depending on publisher) Pencil Revelation 21:5 is done with colored pencil. Colored pencils always work well but even they show through a little in this Bible. I’m including pencils in every Bible review and medium post not because I think there is a chance they won’t...Read More
For this Friday’s art journaling post I decided to show a step-by-step of my most recent project – Psalm 5:2. I’m currently working in the Crossway ESV Singe Column Journaling Bible to get a Various Art Medium post ready. I chose this verse while reading passages about prayer during my Bible study time. (What else would I study on the National Day of Prayer?) Blank pages – inspiring and intimidating at the same time. I decided on a stencil I was going to use for the emphasized words and worked up a rough sketch on a scrap piece of paper...Read More
Photography by hannah C brown Crossway’s Personal Reference Bible is hand-size Bible that creates a nice balance between size and usefulness. It includes the 2011 edition of the ESV and most of the tools you’d expect to see in a reference Bible. I’m reviewing the black TruTone edition. It’s available in many colors, styles, and materials including hard cover, cloth over board, TruTone, genuine leather, and top grain leather. Binding This edition is black TruTone. It includes a thick black paper liner, perimeter stitching, a sewn binding, and a single black ribbon. The cover has a textured grain that...Read More
