Thompson Chain Reference Bible ESV – Review

The Thompson Chain Reference system has been greatly improved in the ESV edition.  The Thompson Chain Reference is one of the oldest study Bibles that’s still on the market today and now Kirkbride has released it in the popular ESV translation (2016 edition). It even has a few refinements to the Thompson Chain Reference system to improve it even further. It will be available in soft cover, hard cover, and bonded and genuine leather in both black and burgundy with and without thumb-index. In this review I’m looking at the softcover edition. I’ll look at the hard cover and leather...

To help build our curiosity in God’s Word, Zondervan has partnered with Faithlife (maker of Logos and the Faithlife Study Bible app) to publish the NIV Faithlife Study Bible. Thompson Answer Bible NIV Review

A collaborative work by Kirkbride and Hartnell House, the Thompson Answer Bible was designed to help you find answers for everyday issues from the Thompson Chain study system. It includes 500 topics with questions, Scripture references, and applications. The target audience is children and is for use by youths, adults, parents, families, teachers, and leaders. I’m reviewing ISBN: 9781936119110. ___________________________ Buy from Amazon ___________________________ Binding The cover is brown imitation leather. It has an excellent look and feel. I love the color and texture. I’m not overly fond of imitation leather but if I have a Bible with imitation...

Crossway’s ESV Study Bible has been one of the most popular study Bibles on the market since it released in 2008. It’s easy to see why with its vast amount of features that include 20,000 notes and 50 articles. It’s basically a full library of Bible study materials. I’ve previously reviewed the regular edition. In this review I take a look at the personal size edition and note some of the differences between the two. The doctrinal position follows Reformed Theology. My review copy includes the 2011 edition of the ESV. Features 2011 ESV text Sewn binding TruTone Brown...

Common Man’s Reference Bible Review

The Common Man’s Reference Bible is a popular study Bible among the KJV only crowd. It’s a wide margin reference edition in large print with an edge-lined lambskin cover with notes to support the KJV-O movement. I’m reviewing the 3rd edition. Binding The cover is smooth lamb-skin with a synthetic edge-lined liner. It has perimeter stitching and spine ridges. The leather is durable and flexible but it’s also soft and scratches easily. This is a sewn binding and it has no issues laying flat. The heavy tab in the edge-lining might need to break in though before the pages...
