The Westminster was the first, and one of the very few, Bibles that my wife loved so much that she claimed it before I could even see it. There’s a good reason for that – updated words in the margins, 200,000 cross references, elegant setting, etc. The Westminster KJV Reference Bible has been made into a compact edition (33% smaller in overall footprint). Lately I’ve used smaller Bibles and this one fits the bill just right. My wife isn’t getting this one. This one is mine. The Compact Westminster was made with missionaries in mind. Review by Blake Ratliff (12/11/16) Introduction After wearing out a few bonded leather Bibles, I finally discovered a Christian book store that had some quality real leather Bibles and purchased my first study Bible: a Moroccan leather KJV Thompson Chain. This Bible has really lasted and I have refused to buy any bonded leather Bible ever since. In searching for a more compact reader’s Bible, I discovered Cambridge and got their standard text edition. It became my favorite Bible mainly due to the readability of the font and the feeling of quality. Over the years, I have become...Read More
The Cambridge Pitt Minion is a standard in small high quality Bibles and for good reason – it’s a full reference edition that’s easily carried while presenting a readable, yet small, typeface. The result, if you’re okay with small type, is a Bible that can easily become the only Bible you need. In this review I take a look at the English Standard Version (ESV) in black goatskin. It’s also available in brown goatskin, black calf split, and black imitation leather. Pros Easy to carry Goatskin cover Cons Some will have trouble with the small type Features 2011 ESV...Read More
Great news for anyone buying the Compact Westminster! The shipment is now past customs and on American soil. They are expected in Chicago by the end of this week and should be ready to ship early next week. If ordered within the next two weeks you should have your order by December 24th. If you want to pre-order (which would place it on back-order and help get your order out quicker) feel free to call them (and tell them Randy said it was okay 🙂 ). If you’re wondering what a Compact Westminster is, it’s a reduced version of the...Read More
The Bible is filled with connections. Those connections can be difficult to see because there’s often a barrier between the Old and New Testaments. Holman’s NKJV Reader’s Reference Bible was designed to reduce the barrier and show how the testaments correspond through passages that are printed directly on the page. The concept and page design is from 2K/Denmark and the result is a layout that works. ______________________________ Buy from Amazon Holman Reader’s Reference Bible ______________________________ Binding This is a hard cover edition with a dust jacket.
