I recently finished reading Illuminated Journaling by Jann Gray. I found this book inspirational and wish I had read it much earlier in my Bible art journaling journey. One of Jann’s favorite phrases is “It’s more about your heart then the art” and that philosophy is very evident in this book. She starts Illuminated Journaling with “the elephant in the room.” Is it okay to draw in your Bible? While her answer (and mine) is yes, not everyone’s will be. Bible art journaling is a very personal undertaking and no two people will approach it exactly the same way. Where...Read More

Today I’m showing various art mediums in the large print Inspire Bible. This is the larger version of the Inspire Bible with all the same drawings (just larger versions) and a larger font. Since it’s the same paper all the same products (like from a previous Art Mediums post) will or won’t work. For more details on the NLT large print Inspire you can check out the review here. PENCIL, GEL PEN, (and a tip in) This was done with gel pens for the words “LORD” and “GOD” and the gold ring and the rest of it is...Read More
Today I’m showing you Joshua 1:9 in the Inspire Bible: Large Print Edition as the 3rd of my step by steps. I’d been thinking about joining a Bible art challenge. I thought joining a challenge would be a great way to hear how God has spoken to others through their journaling, learn about various art products and techniques, and possibly find some inspiration. I’ve spent more time than usual on Rebekah R Jones’ site this week looking at videos and checking out her fantastic giveaway (ends 8/18/2016 so hurry if you want to enter). I decided I’d start with one of...Read More
I’ve heard a lot of good things about Faber Castell Gelatos so I recently bought a set of metallic ones. I figured if I was curious how well they worked in different Bibles some of you would be too. I decided to start my experimentation in some of the journaling Bibles we’ve already featured and show you gelatos in various Bibles. The pack I purchased included 12 gelatos, 2 blending tools, and a brush. Just like in my various art mediums posts I’ve included the backs of the pages so you can see the amount of show through, bleed...Read More
Chalk It Up To Grace is a beautiful inspirational coloring book published by Paige Tate & Co. I was hoping to get this review up yesterday (National Coloring Book Day) but life happens. The pictures are printed on black backgrounds to look more like the chalkboard work that the artist, Shannon Roberts, is known for. 13 of the images come in both a small and large version. There are 29 8″ x 10″ designs and 14 5″ x 7″ designs in all. The book is made of thick paper that is perforated to be easily removed but you would...Read More
