The Art of Words Review

I was given a chance to read a pre-release copy of The Art of Words by Valerie Wieners. (It releases August 1st, 2017) It is a beautiful full-color 120 page book. Subtitled “Learn the Craft of Creative Lettering” this book will help you learn lettering or improve your skill. Passio/Charisma House provided this book free for review. I was not required to give a positive review – only an honest one. ISBN: 9781629991566 _________________________________________________________ This book is available at (includes some affiliate links) Amazon Barnes and Noble and many local Bible bookstores _______________________________________________________ LETTERING Lettering is of course the main...

10 Ways to Fall in Love With Your Bible Review

I just finished reading Shana Noel’s new book 10 Ways to Fall in Love With Your Bible and Stay in Love. Dayspring provided this book free for review. I was not required to give a positive review – only an honest one. All opinions are my own.  Many of you may already know that Shanna is the fonder and owner of Illustrated Faith, one of the largest online Bible journaling communities. Her enthusiasm for God’s Word and journaling is easy to see now but this book explains it wasn’t always that way for her. This book won’t tell you...

Illuminated Journaling Review

I recently finished reading Illuminated Journaling by Jann Gray. I found this book inspirational and wish I had read it much earlier in my Bible art journaling journey. One of Jann’s favorite phrases is “It’s more about your heart then the art” and that philosophy is very evident in this book. She starts Illuminated Journaling with “the elephant in the room.” Is it okay to draw in your Bible? While her answer (and mine) is yes, not everyone’s will be. Bible art journaling is a very personal undertaking and no two people will approach it exactly the same way. Where...

Various Art Mediums in the Large Print Inspire Bible

Today I’m showing various art mediums in the large print Inspire Bible. This is the larger version of the Inspire Bible with all the same drawings (just larger versions) and a larger font. Since it’s the same paper all the same products (like from a previous Art Mediums post) will or won’t work. For more details on the NLT large print Inspire you can check out the review here.   PENCIL, GEL PEN, (and a tip in) This was done with gel pens for the words “LORD” and “GOD” and the gold ring and the rest of it is...

Art Journaling Joshua 1:9 – Strong and Courageous

Today I’m showing you Joshua 1:9 in the Inspire Bible: Large Print Edition as the 3rd of my step by steps. I’d been thinking about joining a Bible art challenge.  I thought joining a challenge would be a great way to hear how God has spoken to others through their journaling, learn about various art products and techniques, and possibly find some inspiration. I’ve spent more time than usual on Rebekah R Jones’ site this week looking at videos and checking out her fantastic giveaway (ends 8/18/2016 so hurry if you want to enter). I decided I’d start with one of...
