The Bible Beautiful on Kickstarter

There’s an interesting new Bible project on Kickstarter called The Bible Beautiful. Noticing how visually oriented our culture has become the founders of Alabaster, Bryan Chung and Brian Chung (yes, they have the same name) are designing a Bible for today. Wanting people to see God as the ultimate creator and artist they are creating a Bible that integrates imagery, typography and layout design within the biblical text. They are using photographic images, the majority of which were created specifically for this project after in-depth study of the scriptures. They are starting with the four gospels, each in it’s own book.  Each gospel...

Art Journaling Joshua 1:9 – Strong and Courageous

Today I’m showing you Joshua 1:9 in the Inspire Bible: Large Print Edition as the 3rd of my step by steps. I’d been thinking about joining a Bible art challenge.  I thought joining a challenge would be a great way to hear how God has spoken to others through their journaling, learn about various art products and techniques, and possibly find some inspiration. I’ve spent more time than usual on Rebekah R Jones’ site this week looking at videos and checking out her fantastic giveaway (ends 8/18/2016 so hurry if you want to enter). I decided I’d start with one of...

Gelatos in Various Bibles

I’ve heard a lot of good things about Faber Castell Gelatos so I recently bought a set of metallic ones. I figured if I was curious how well they worked in different Bibles some of you would be too. I decided to start my experimentation in some of the journaling Bibles we’ve already featured and show you gelatos in various Bibles. The pack I purchased included 12 gelatos, 2 blending tools, and a brush. Just like in my various art mediums posts I’ve included the backs of the pages so you can see the amount of show through, bleed...

ROUNDz Stamps – Bible Set from Mason Row

On my most recent trip to Hobby Lobby I found this neat little set of Bible stamps called ROUNDz. Made by Mason Row it is a set of 8 stamps of Bible related images. The stamps are made of wood and rubber and are approximately 3 inches long  and 1/2 inch in diameter. They have slightly flattened the bottom edge to aid in keeping them oriented correctly and to stop them from rolling away. You can see the stamped images are small (the widest is 3/8 of an inch, and the tallest a little under 1/2 an inch). These could...

Chalk it Up to Grace Review

Chalk It Up To Grace is a beautiful inspirational coloring book published by Paige Tate & Co. I was hoping to get this review up yesterday (National Coloring Book Day) but life happens. The pictures are printed on black backgrounds to look more like the chalkboard work that the artist, Shannon Roberts, is known for. 13 of the images come in both a small and large version. There are 29 8″ x 10″ designs and 14 5″ x 7″ designs in all. The book is made of thick paper that is perforated to be easily removed but you would...
