Bible journaling (using words, artwork, or some combination) has become increasingly popular and there’s a good chance someone you know would like a journaling Bible for Christmas. In previous years the number of new journaling Bibles would have been small but not in 2016. Here’s a list of some of my favorites suitable for gift giving. Journal the Word Bible The Journal the Word Bible is a good basic journaling Bible. It’s single column with lightly lined margins suitable for any style of journaling. It’s also red letter (a feature we’ve only recently seen added to journaling Bibles). What makes this stand out...Read More

UPS just brought my Thomas Nelson NKJV Journal the Word Bible and I thought I’d put up a few pictures. This is the patterned cream linen and brown imitation leather cover. The Linen is only on the portion of the front you see here and the leather wraps around the spine and is the entire back cover. Nelson is making this style of Bible in two translations, NKJV and KJV, two sizes, standard and large print, and six different covers. Besides this Imitation leather and linen there is also premium leather, bonded leather, black hardcover, and two different...Read More
I’ve recently been using Holman’s HCSB Illustrator’s Notetaking Bible. I recently finished reading Illuminated Journaling by Jann Gray. I found this book inspirational and wish I had read it much earlier in my Bible art journaling journey. One of Jann’s favorite phrases is “It’s more about your heart then the art” and that philosophy is very evident in this book. She starts Illuminated Journaling with “the elephant in the room.” Is it okay to draw in your Bible? While her answer (and mine) is yes, not everyone’s will be. Bible art journaling is a very personal undertaking and no two people will approach it exactly the same way. Where...Read More
Today I’m showing various art mediums in the large print Inspire Bible. This is the larger version of the Inspire Bible with all the same drawings (just larger versions) and a larger font. Since it’s the same paper all the same products (like from a previous Art Mediums post) will or won’t work. For more details on the NLT large print Inspire you can check out the review here. PENCIL, GEL PEN, (and a tip in) This was done with gel pens for the words “LORD” and “GOD” and the gold ring and the rest of it is...Read More
